It's amazing to me how addicting computers and art are, especially when together in the same room! My daughter is always the one encouraging me to post stuff on here, while I never even think of it. I am REALLY looking forward to getting a new camera soon, since my old Canon A95 and my newer Canon S5IS have both taken so many photos that they are both nearly dead. If anyone has (cough cough) opinions on a good sturdy DSLR to purchase for someone like me... an avid enthusiast, but not "professional" photographer (yet... unless you count the few times I've actually been paid for something), let me know.
Here are my main requirements:
Must take good video... (Finally, some of the new SLRs do that now- which was why I opted for a super zoom P&S instead).
Must have excellent picture quality (duhhhh).
ISO up to 1600, maybe more. I never use beyond that.
Must take excellent macros... my favourite thing to do.
Would LIKE a swivel screen, but even a tilt might be suitable, since that's what wore out on my current camera.
Reasonably simple and intuitive to use interface. I can read the instruction manual... but I am used to the Canons.
I also want something that takes decent low-light video/photos without a ton of graininess.
I take a lot of animal and macro photos, some landscape, some people, and definitely use my camera as a video camera, too.
Oh... and I don't care about the Mega pixels as much as I care about the Optical Zoom. Anything over 8 MP takes clear enough shots for all the printing I ever do. (Even my original camera got some good shots and it was only 1 MP!)
